In Tune Piano Service is a family run business with Bernard Beeson and his apprentice and son, Oliver Beeson.

Our aim is to provide the best possible playing experience for piano players. We achieve this through our expertise and honing of our craft that comes from the tutelage of previous master technicians. We then use this to restore our pianos to the highest quality.

We service all areas across Perth.

Bernard Beeson

Master Piano Technician

Bernard Beeson is a master piano technician, with over 41 years of experience in piano and pianola restoration and tuning. He specialises particularly in Pianola player pianos. He has a deep and vast understanding of the intricate mechanisms of pianolas.

He has currently been running his own business, In Tune Piano Service for 30 Years. Providing his trusted services to pianists across Perth.

Merits and Experience

Bernard was trained under the late John Van Oyen, where he learnt his skills in the complete restoration of pianos and tuning over the course of 5 years.

He then sought further training under the tutelage of John Borsje at Whitfords Piano Service for 6 years. This was where he learned to specialise in the restoration of Pianolas.

• Has been a member of The Piano Tuners & Technicians Association of Western Australia (PTTAWA) for 35 years
• Is an accredited piano technician with Yamaha Australia

Oliver Beeson

Master Piano Apprentice

Under his father’s tutelage, Oliver Beeson has been training part-time for 3 years, and 4 years as a full time apprentice. Bernard has been passing on his skills in piano craftsmanship, teaching Oliver in the full restoration, regulation, and tuning of pianos and pianos.

On the back of these skills and the support from his father, Oliver has sought further training in both modern and historical piano restoration.

Merits and Experience

Oliver was a participant in a PhD research teaching program for tuning and stringing of a late eighteenth-century English square piano under Paul Tunzi in 2022.

Oliver was awarded with the Van Uden Bursary Award by The Piano Tuners & Technicians Association of Western Australia (PTTAWA), for a bursary contribution towards training in historical piano restoration in England and Europe.

Whilst in England, Oliver trained in the restoration of English square pianos by Lucy Coad. Oliver also partook in a training course in early keyboard tuning and maintenance through the Finchcocks Charity & Richard Burnett collection.

Regulation

To give you full control and responsiveness when playing a piano, we offer a service to regulate the piano’s action to either the industry standard or to the pianist’s preference.

Because of time, wearing down of materials and the climate of the piano’s environment will affect the working alignment of the action parts. We then make adjustments to allow the piano to be played in the smoothest manner possible.
